LEARNING TO SEE! From Crayons to Oil Paint

Barbara Ghigo Biography

“It was my good fortune when Henry and I moved to Shelby in 1961, to meet artist Nancy Carter within weeks of arrival.
Having her for a friend and instructor got me started on the path
that has provided much enjoyment and some struggles as well.

Fast forward to the “empty nest” stage of life, a perfect time to seriously explore painting. I am thankful to Hal Bryant for his classes in drawing and painting and to Elizabeth Ross at Central Piedmont Community College for additional study in portraiture and color theory. Those three years of driving back and forth for Portrait and Life Drawing classes were wonderful.

Drawing and painting people from life requires keen observation and “Learning to “See”. Having the person “show up” on canvas is a marvelous experience.

My thanks to Cleveland County Memorial Library for this opportunity for local artists to exhibit.”
