Earth Day Festivities: On Saturday April 23rd, there will be an Earth Day Celebration with the Gateway Trails in partnership with the City of Kings Mountain Special Events and Mauney Memorial Library. Enjoy music by the Log Cabin String Band and Adam Satterfield on Keyboard. Activities will be provided by over 15 community organizations and include crafts and jewelry making by Scrap Exchange, live music, food vendors, upcycle artisans, and so much more! The Scrap Exchange of Durham is a non-profit dedicated to promoting creativity, environmental awareness and community through reuse (see scrapexchange.org for details). The Cleveland County Humane Society, East & West Elementary Robotics Team, SonRidge Farm Petting Zoo, Arts & Crafts by Teresa Detain, Foothills Farmers Market, Judy’s Wild Science, Carolina Raptor Center, Artist Vicki Franks & recycling, Children’s Author Brenda Barnes, and Childcare Connections and more will all be on hand to teach about appreciating our environment!

Extra parking is across the street from the trailhead and along Quarry Road.  Come out, celebrate our beautiful earth and enjoy a walk on the trail!
