In this interactive class we will use our taste buds to guide us as we explore the medicinal value of plant medicines. As a group we will taste a variety of herbal tinctures while simultaneously observing the effect these plants have on our bodies and learning about their traditional uses. We will also explore this concept in the realm of food! Samples will be provided as we experience the way particular tastes and correlating energetics interacts with our bodies’ constitutions. Participants will have an opportunity to take home an ounce of Schisandra tincture which contains the five basic tastes and helps balance the body.

Instructor: Stacey Costner began her formal study of herbal medicine in 2011 at the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine. After completing the school’s winter curriculum and apprenticeship, she continued on to complete the 400 hour Advanced Clinical Herbalist program. She is now practicing as a certified clinical herbalist and finds great joy in offering holistic health consultations to the community. She is also a homesteader and educator at Living Earth Sanctuary where she is devoted to living close to the land as she works to preserve her grandparents’ farm with sustainable practices.
