The Luthier’s Craft: Instrument Making Traditions of the Blue Ridge and Piedmont, a traveling exhibit from the Mount Airy Regional History museum in Mount Airy, NC opened to the public Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the special exhibits gallery on the second floor of the Earl Scruggs Center. The Luthier’s Craft offers guests an experiential exploration of the traditional art of stringed instrument making as it still exists in Southern Appalachia and the Blue Ridge Mountains with a focus on guitar and banjo.

The exhibit includes local stories of luthiers in our region and is accompanied with related programming including demonstrations by local & regional instrument makers as well as classes where participants can build their own instruments. The exhibit will be on display until the end of the year.
